Operation: Rock Wall

Almost from the moment Kevin and I moved into this house, he's been talking about building a rock wall for us to climb on. We just so happen to have a massive acorn tree in our backyard that is perfect for what he was envisioning. He quickly sketched some ideas and immediately started purchasing items (one at a time), throughout the months we've been here. Well, fast forward and we now have a rock wall that is about 60% finished. You have to give props to Kevin for setting his sights on something he wants and just going after it! Once its completely finished we're inviting all of our friends and their family over for a BBQ and some climbing. Can't wait until its all done!

(A special thank you to Kevin's friends, Lance and Josh, for helping build this. There's a little more to go, but we couldn't have built it without your time and effort!)

Scoping out the tree...he's such a nut!

Painting the boards with textured paint to mimic the roughness of natural rock.

We don't have a ladder yet, so Kevin and his friend spent a lot of the time climbing and hanging from the tree to get the right angle!

Harnessed in and bolting down the hand-holds.

Nearly finished!

Hello down there!
